Baby, It's You

Following on the heels of the Dakota Fanning Marc Jacobs ad campaign in the US, there was a larger campaign shoot of the starlet with Juergen Teller in Paris' Purple magazine.

Looking at the thirteen year old, our minds went first to Tanya D., who started modeling in Russia at eleven, and first met with American scouts at thirteen.

But then our British fashion crush Lula has a jewelry story that features a scantily-clad blonde toddler decked out in diamond tiaras, brooches, and necklaces from Garrard, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari and De Beers.

We’re used to teenage models and all, and even Dakota, but is this going too far?

Its actually Alice Sykes' daughter Scarlet - her husband Chris Floyd was the photographer. It was meant to be cute not risque

i don't consider that modeling - she's not posed in some type of scary dress that's way beyond her years like Dakota
.. i think this is actually cute

I don't think scantily clad echoes quite the same way when there's no element of provocation in the subject's attitude. She doesn't look sexy, nor does she look scared or bewildered, which are the two expressions I would take issue with. Her S.O.s will just have much better pictures to see when they come home to meet her parents.

Indeed I am the photographer who shot this and it is my daughter Scarlet. It was just a fun little afternoon we had shooting the pictures in our house. Just the two of us, $20 million worth of jewellery and 14 security guards crammed into my living room watching DVD's.

Thanks for writing in, Chris.

I think for the next shoot you do with your daughter, she should be dressed as a jewel thief!

I think it's really, really cute. The jewelry looks good-
plus, she's adorable.
Besides, Dakota Fanning may be over the hill in celebrity culture, but some of her roles do a lot to support that.

Cute! She's just being a little girl, not staring soul-lessly into the camera like you-know-who...

Scantily clad is a little misleading - that would suggest clothing in the realm of Paris Hilton or Lilo on a evening out. This is cute, and not at all risque. When else can you get away with wearing so much ornate jewellery (granted not $20 millions worth) that it weighs you down, other than when you're little.

Does Chris have a website with his work? I'd love to see more...
