Legally Blonde with Gisele, W

The next issue of W has Gisele looking amazing on the cover - and a little bit odd inside.

Styled by Camilla Nickerson, the supermodel celebrates her emancipation from lingerie and wings in flaming pink ensembles with a Barbie eyeshadow palette that might be called "Priscilla, Queen of the Makeup." She's also got maraschino lips and nails to match.

We concede our style expertise pales in comparison to Ms. Nickerson - sometimes we even wonder what Amanda Harlech is wearing, and she's the Chanel muse - but this look is a clear '80s resurrection, lacquered in kitsch and... well, it's weird.

Is this jacquard jacket from Miu Miu really what's on for Fall - and if so, where is it pushing fashion, besides back to Troop Beverly Hills?

We were showing the fall fashions to the blind and they said they could feel the colors! . . . Never get married in Reno girls, the California division of property laws can't be beat.

Yeah, I need help

I'm loving this 80's resurgence. Most of you may be too young to remember; but it was really all about color, big hair, over the top statements.

i really detested the fall miu miu collection - i got the idea behind it, but it just looked so foul. having said that, it doesnt look so bad with the belt. i love the cover image.

She always reminded me of your favorite childhood toy. You know the one with the Horse's head on a broomstick. Except in this case they stuck a pair of tits her for good measure.

Does anyone really think that the fashion that exists today "pushes fashion" anywhere? Post 1980, it's all the same recycled stuff from the 20th century -- pick a decade.

Gisele is really looking like her age plus ten years in those pics...that hair and makeup REALLY ages her...and didn't she refuse to be photgraphed alongside younger models at some point?

and on a similar note, i was recently watching a horror movie from the 80's and was more horrified the the actresses' bright multicolored eye makeup than by antyhing else...yikes, I'm glad I was just a toddler then!!!

Yes! I agree with Stephanie on the whole ANTM vibe of it. When I first saw these pictures I thought, 'Awful! She looks like Jaslene!" I love the '80s look, but I'm pretty sure it's just nostalgia for my mother's closet from when I was 5.

I think all the designers are feeling the 80s because it was the last decade that actually inspired creativity. A major art scene was happening in New York in the 80s, the NY nightclub scene was a creative melting pot giving birth to Paper & Details magazine, the now megabrand designers were hitting their stride in the 80s...the 80s (from what I remember of it) were great!

Plus everything in fashion today is a recycled, reshaped, remixed version of something else.

I agree that this vaguely resembles an ANTM shoot, but I still loves it!
W mag is always all about "go big or go home" and I can't get enough!

If you squint your left eye and tilt your head a bit, that's totally Cindy Crawford.

The styling is great, but it's the lighting/photography that sucks (Michael Bore Thompson).

Compare it to the Kiev story in the same issue. Camilla Nickerson again, but this time with Juergen Teller. Out of the world amazing. I was gagging!
