Burberry Imports American Girls

Racks of Burberry trenches hit our shores each year - now Christopher Bailey wants us to return the favor.

The checked designer was in Chicago last week for a Burberry fashion show, and the local models used on his runway made quite an impression -

According to Time Out Chicago, Bailey booked several of them for his Milan runway next month.

Stranger discoveries have certainly happened, and remember that Cindy Crawford developed in Chicago 20 years ago - it's also Erin Heatherton's hometown.

Who's next?

Maybe Shaletta Porterfield from Ford - Andre Leon Talley reportedly called the Vogue home office about her, and today, WWD runs a photo of her storming the Burberry show.

Look out, Milan!

Yeeah! I'm so happy to hear this (as a Chicagoan myself). There's been a lot of good fashion happening in the city and I have always feared that we'll never compare to New York. But things are so different here, more DIY, less black and luxe obsessed. I hope for more designers shows because it would definitely espouse a better fashion culture here.

I'm from Chicago and boy, does this city need some major fashion help! Without fashion here in the midwest, I feel I'm somewhat missing out on a part of culture. Hopefully one day the city can catch up to places like New York and hell even L.A. Anyway, I'm glad to hear he showed here. I had no idea.

I agree with Chloe... I live in Chicago, but I just got home from Europe, and it really struck me just how out of touch with fashion people are around here while I was walking around today.

I know there are exceptions though! It's just not something you can see walking around... Anyway, I'm glad Burberry had a show here (I didnt know either), and I hope there will be more to come...

Andre Leon Talley's comments are magic — whatever he says becomes truth. So, I agree, Shaletta is the next big thing in fashion! She has already been named the black "Kate Moss" and, as a budding fashion journalist, I'm 110% behind her! Good job Shaletta! *kiss kiss*
