Vlada's Heavy Load
Oct 16, 2007 @ 10:01am

Reports this week say that Vlada Roslyakova was the most-booked model during Fashion Week this season.
Of course, we're cringing a bit.
It's not that Vlada doesn't seem like a lovely person - in fact, she must be pretty cool if everyone wants to work with her.
But despite looking a tiny bit healthier in New York this season, she's not exactly a great icon for those of us who hope fashion boosts healthy, hot models like Caroline Trentini - whose butt gets cat-called routinely on the runway by a group of young fashion editors.
Still, Vlada's booking streak is remarkable -
Especially since it means she somehow had the energy to walk in about a hundred shows this season.
One more thing: Last year, the "most walked" title went to Irina, and a slew of campaigns followed.
Is Vlada the next poster girl for... well, for everything?
Jessica Stam Has a Line
Oct 16, 2007 @ 9:10am
The clothing may not be in stores yet, but Cavalli's five-second commercial for H&M is now available.
It reminds us of a gold-drenched Rocky Horror Picture Show - Roberto descending down a candelabra staircase with a wicked grin, mysterious "natives" frolicking at his party, and a wide-eyed innocent played by Jessica Stam.
We think she's sort of great at the start of the commercial, and if they ever do a remake of Valley of the Dolls - or even just an Italian Vogue photo shoot of all its famous scenes - we're rooting for Stam all the way.
Lily Cole's Big Part
Oct 15, 2007 @ 9:12am
Lily Cole may have been scarce on the runways this season, but she's coming soon to a theater near you.
On the heels of Phantasmagoria, Lily's been announced to play Christopher Plummer's daughter in a new fantasy flick, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.
The period piece follows a mysterious theatre troupe as they traverse the countryside looking for victims... sorry, audience members... and casts Lily as a girl named Valentina.
It's a major part, but even more major is her love interest in the film - Heath Ledger. Oh dear.
The entire plot synopsis is already up on Wikipedia, though sadly, the wardrobe choices haven't been leaked - yet.
Coco Enters The Matrix
Oct 15, 2007 @ 8:32am
What did Coco Rocha do after filming this commercial for YSL perfume?
a) United with Neo and Trinity to free all mankind from cyber-bondage.
b) Used her perfume spray to defeat Anakin Skywalker.
c) Calculated the answer to everything, 42.
d) Sorry, we've only seen three sci-fi movies...
But it's four if you count this weird commercial, redeemed somewhat by Coco's trashy-cool eyeliner...
Mike + Chris Don't Mind a Little Attitude
Oct 10, 2007 @ 12:31pm

Our Mike + Chris look book came today, and along with some expensively scrunched hoodies, there was also a familiar face:
You may remember her from her temper tantrum, when she told the head of Next Models that he didn't know what he was doing.
Actually, that's the only reason we remember her, because we were so absolutely shocked...
Of course, we should probably just be grateful that Angelika never made it onto Top Model, because Tyra would have bitch-slapped her... and then she would have won.
Stam's Addiction
Oct 05, 2007 @ 3:40pm
On Wednesday Style.com's Derek Blasberg trailed Jessica Stam for a whole day to find out how she makes it through the madness of Paris fashion week.
Her secret?
Starbucks.
Style.com's first photo of her day shows her at 6 am, with a big cup of Starbucks on her way to the Lagerfeld show.
Later she gushes that a Starbucks gift card from a casting director friend "made her day" during the New York season, and mentions that her driver, Jean Michel, doubles as her go-to guy for always essential java pit stops.
Maybe she should get an endorsement deal.

Lara Stone's Runway Glory
Oct 04, 2007 @ 11:45am

Last season, Cathy Horyn wrote an homage to the model Lara Stone, noting that not only was she gorgeous and age-appropriate (She's 24! Go Lara!), but she also "walks like Lurch."
After seeing the Stella McCartney show this morning, we can totally confirm -
In fact, we have a photo to prove it.
This isn't just an awkward angle, although yes, it's a bit awkward when you're practically in Joe Berean's lap.
Instead, it's the shape Lara made during her entire runway strut, a rhythm of clunks and stomps we've only seen before in a tribal dance, or perhaps an epileptic fit.
It made us really adore Lara Stone, but it also made us think back to Top Model's casting special, when Tyra slams Kristen McMenamy for not being able to walk, and then champions contestant Heather for her similar clumsiness...
What, you think we haven't been downloading episodes in Europe?
